FILM EVALUATION

WHAT SHOWS UP ON FILM

Jesse Morgan’s updated film shows a dual-threat quarterback who can operate with rhythm and control in the passing game while creating when the original play breaks down. His active feet and organized throwing base support his accuracy, and his pocket movement is purposeful: he recognizes space to climb without immediately abandoning the play. As a runner, he shows more than straight-line athleticism. He reads defensive leverage, uses his path and eyes to influence defenders, and changes direction without losing much momentum.

POCKET MANAGEMENT + SEAM PLACEMENT

Jesse comes off the action with a clean drop, active feet and a stable throwing base. At 0:06, the edge defender loses his footing, but Jesse does not drift or leave the pocket unnecessarily. He recognizes the space in front of him, climbs while keeping his base underneath him and transfers his weight through the delivery. The result is a seam throw over the receiver’s right shoulder, placed in stride. The rep connects his pocket awareness and lower-body mechanics directly to his downfield accuracy.

PRESSURE RECOGNITION + VERTICAL ESCAPE

Working from the shotgun, Jesse looks left and then works back toward the middle as the protection begins to break down. Multiple rushers come free, including No. 64 through the B gap. Jesse recognizes the immediate threat, plants his right foot and steps out of the rush lane without carrying himself farther toward the boundary. He attacks the opening inside and accelerates vertically in one decisive movement. The rep shows progression work, pressure feel and efficient footwork turning a disrupted pass play into an explosive run.

OPEN-FIELD VISION + DECEPTION

After escaping pressure and reaching the second level, Jesse identifies a safety coming downhill. He uses his head and eyes to sell a move left, then plants and redirects without giving up much forward momentum. He accelerates out of the cut and nearly finishes the play for a touchdown. His ability to see the defender early, influence the safety’s reaction and transition quickly back into acceleration adds open-field creativity to his rushing ability.

DEVELOPMENTAL FOCUS

WHAT COMES NEXT

The updated film shows Jesse managing the pocket and creating with his legs. These are the next details to keep sharpening as his quarterback play develops.

01

POST-SNAP PROCESSING

Continue expanding progression speed and post-snap recognition as coverage rotations and defensive structures become increasingly complex.

02

POCKET RESET CONSISTENCY

Continue sharpening lower-body resets after movement so his throwing base remains consistent when pressure changes the original platform.

03

VERTICAL PLACEMENT

Continue developing trajectory and placement consistency on deeper throws to maximize receiver leverage and opportunities after the catch.

FILM EVALUATION SUMMARY

THE OVERALL PICTURE

Jesse’s updated film reinforces his accuracy, rhythmic footwork and ability to manage space in the pocket. On the opening seam throw, his drop, climb and weight transfer stay connected through the delivery, allowing him to place the ball over the receiver’s right shoulder without breaking the receiver’s stride. He keeps his feet active without becoming hurried and uses available pocket space to maintain his throwing platform.

When protection breaks down, Jesse recognizes the rush and makes efficient decisions with his feet. The escape from No. 64 shows a decisive plant, an immediate move out of the B-gap rush lane and vertical acceleration through the opening. Once in space, he identifies a downhill safety and uses his head and eyes to influence the defender before redirecting out of the cut. His running ability is supported by vision and controlled changes of direction.

The zone-read rep adds another look at his processing as a runner. He holds the edge defender at the mesh point, uses his initial track to affect No. 5’s leverage and then adjusts to a second safety’s pursuit angle with a quick jump cut. Across these reps, Jesse shows value both within the passing structure and when the play calls for him to create. His accuracy, pocket control, pressure response and open-field decision-making define this updated dual-threat evaluation.
